In the 2006 Census (held on 8th August 2006), there were 24,835 persons usually resident in Fremantle (C) (Local Government Area): 49.6% were males and 50.4% were females. Of the total population in Fremantle (C) (Local Government Area) 1.6% were Indigenous persons, compared with 2.3% Indigenous persons in Australia.

In the 2006 Census, there were 6,203 families in Fremantle (C) (Local Government Area): 36.7% were couple families with children, 42.3% were couple families without children, 18.8% were one parent families and 2.2% were other families.
